Work done on 1988 Pontiac Firebird Engine and Mechanical * Drain and change engine oil and oil filter * Drain, flush and replace engine coolant with correct anti-freeze mix * Drain, flush and re-fill screen wash * Top up Power Steering fluid * Replace rotor arm * Replace distributor cap * Replace spark plugs * Replace thermostat with correct 195 degree unit * Clean IAC valve * Check operation of, and clean, PCV valve * Clean and tidy the under-hood area * Clean and re-spray air-filter housing * Remove battery, clean and rust proof battery tray * Repair and re-terminate battery connections * Lubricate throttle cable * Check and adjust TV cable * Check and adjust cruise control unit * Remove transmission sump, replace transmission filter an re-fill with fresh Dexron III transmission fluid * Remove differential cover, clean, re-fit with new gasket and re-fill with fresh 80W/90 gear oil and Limited Slip additive * Top up brake fluid * Check condition of brake pads * Remove, check, renovate and re-install catalytic converter, re-seal joints, using new clamps and bolts where necessary, re-join oxygen pipe * Re-seal other exhaust joints and re-condition exhaust system. * Adjust tyre pressures Bodywork * Re-spray any minor dings or scrapes * Re-spay faded / peeling trunk glass surround with factory-correct satin black * Repair and re-spray damaged rear cruising light surround * Renovate and polish all paintwork * Lubricate all locks * Replace missing bulkhead vent screws * Remove rear spoiler and check for rust in upper trunk panel, treat as necessary * Plug holes in front bumper (from previously installed accessory lights) and touch-up * Replace reduced size 'States-plates' with new UK legal license plates using discrete screws * Clean, repair where necessary, and treat all weather-stripping * Replace broken driver's door vent * Check trunk floor, spare wheel well, and inside doors for rust. * Check under-body area for corrosion. * Removed faded / peeling decals and install new factory-correct Firebird Sport Coupe decal and stripe kit * Replace missing bolts in headlamp assemblies * Repair headlamp retaining rings * Re-hang doors and adjust latches * Adjust side windows for in/out play to factory specs, re-adjust travel limits and angles for a tight seal against weatherstripping, check for water leaks * Grease door hinges Electrical * Convert front light assemblies to UK legal clear side-lights and re-wire accordingly * Waterproof headlight assemblies and connections * Lubricate headlamp pop-up mechanism * Install rear fog lamp and associated switch with 'Fog light on' warning light (UK legally required for MOT on an '88 car) and wire into fused lighting circuit * Re-wire and repair trunk interior light and trunk light disable switch * Repair, clean and lubricate faulty interior light door switches * Repair footwell lights * Remove instrument cluster, check operation of all gauges and warning lights, replace any blown bulbs, re-install instruments * Clean interior light lens * Clean heads and transport mechanism of cassette player Interior * Remove, repair, re-glue and re-install dashboard pocket * Remove door-trims, clean and renovate, re-glue any peeling trim, repair and re-inforce any weak trim clip holes, install new weather-shield sheeting on inside of doors and re-install door trims with new clips where necessary * Scrub carpets with heavy duty carpet cleaner * Scrub seats with upholstery cleaner * Remove and repair damaged headlining, re-glue where necessary, re-install * Repair passenger seat belt assembly * Remove upper dash-pad, renovate and re-install * Repair warped and damaged centre console * Repair, overhaul and adjust non-working power lock mechanisms and solenoids to full working order * Clean and lubricate electric window winder mechanisms * Remove, repair and re-install under-dash panel trim * Replace missing fuse box cover with repaired one * Tidy and check all under dash wiring * Repair and re-install under-dash cover panels * Replace any wrongly rated fuses with correct ones * Remove all interior side trim, clean and renovate, and re-install with new clips and screws where required * Remove all trunk trim, clean and renovate, and re install * Check that spare wheel, brace, jack and inflator are all present and installed correctly. * Clean and condition all interior trim * Repair damaged blanking piece on dash * Tighten loose rear-view mirror * Tighten clips and re-install rear speaker grilles * Clean, adjust and renovate heater controls, check operation of A/C, replace blown heater control illumination bulb
